This is another Bayanihan exotified dance. The Yakan Paunjalay is way different from this. The Yakan does the Paunjalay when woodpeckers start to appear- that signals the onset of the planting season.
The one shown here is like papindulas or pangsak or igal.
Also, traditional Yakan costume is black predominantly not white.
Being Muslims too, they are conservative. I dont understand why the guy is bare-chested and the lady showing her midrib. Naku nakakahiya yan!
i couldn't agree more... the modifications didn't really help... the dance was butchered...
