ok i did nvidia graphics update 285.62 and that has seemed to stop the problem..just right click on your screen and click nvidia control panel and then click downloads and updates....the previous version i was on was 186.12 or something like that...so apparently the updates within games weren't compatible with the older driver.....but i guess my thermal paste needed changing anyways lol

well i'm still getting the black screen after hours of use....it's not an overheating issue since i used it for 3 years with no problems...now i changed the thermal paste and also added a laptop cooler so the issue is either the graphic card wearing out over time or some sort of update/driver compatibility issue with the updates of games.

ok it works...this is the solution...not clocking, updating drivers, or using rivertuner or whatever....the black screen problem is fixed by replacing the thermal grease...been using my laptop for hours with no black screen...thanks alot for posting this vid :)

ok i got some arctic silver 5 thermal grease from radio shack and put it on the nvidia graphics card and the cpu as well....i also cleaned out a good deal of dust/lint out of the fan...so hopefully this is the cure for the black screen...i got it back together and i'll try it out tomorrow.

oops i see the thermal paste...where do you buy thermal paste and how to you apply it?
-
so what did you do to fix it?....you just took it apart and put it back together?...what is the fix?
Excellent video. I saw this video after I did the same thing to my laptop. The thermal grease on the GPU looked like it was applied by a 4 yr old and looked like someone slapped some clay on there.
I think you're identified the real culprit : bad thermal grease.

@jjbrodzinski Yes i agree i see this a-lot even with new laptops etc... Now i do take in consideration that the paste will spread but come on....... it's enough to do 4-5 cpu's don't make sense to me. I guess that is what you get for outsourced work.
