This is the first song I remember hearing by Leonard Cohen; so deceptively simple. Everytime I sing it, the hypnotic and relentless rhythm like lapping waves and the poetry pull me in as though I can't help myself... as though I'm lost in a place I've never been. And the audience's response each performance makes it clear that it's power is like a drug in a time when simplicity and artistry are in short supply. Thank you Leonard!!
