Partnering with poor, marginalised ethnic hilltribe communities in the Wiang Pa Pao and Mae Suai districts of Chiang Rai, ADRA Thailand's Adopt a Village project takes a holistic approach to community development. Community consultation is crucial in identifying key needs and appropriate solutions. Current activities include micro-finance, the establishment of credit unions, citizenship assistance & advocacy, water security & sanitation, educational scholarships & life skills training, adult literacy, product processing & value adding, group marketing, and sustainable agriculture / animal husbandry.
The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) is a global humanitarian organization of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, following Christs example of being a voice for, serving, and partnering with those in need regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, political or religious affiliation.
ADRA works with people in poverty and distress to create positive change and justness through empowering partnerships and responsible action.
History:
ADRA Thailand was established in the early 1980s. Initially established with a refugee focus in health care and basic human needs. Operations rapidly expanded to include development partnerships with vulnerable Thai communities.
Areas of Concern:
ADRA Thailands areas of concern are the vulnerable and marginalised population groups within Thailand. These include: Remote rural communities, Hilltribe ethnic minority communities, Children at risk of exploitation & trafficking, Refugees and migrant workers, Those in need whenever disaster strikes
