The Old Testament IS part of the bible and it is perhaps even worse than the New Testament, although they both appeal to genocide, racism, slavery, the death penalty, homophobia and misogyny. I see a new trend rising were religious people seem confused as to the meaning of the word religion...you see evangelicals, jehova' witnesses, kabbhalists all claim theirs is not a religion. What, you don't believe in god? You do, so it is. The dictionary agrees. Religion is the most powerful tool for war.

You really believe religion is the cause of war? There will be war, even if religion dissapears. The problem lies not with the everyday faithfull believers, it lies with the people desiring power at any cost, the wicked men of our society. And Rastafari don't read the Bible. We read the Old Testament. Big difference. And we aren't a religion at all, we're of life who preaches for peace, love and sister/brotherhood. And don't judge all Rasta because of Bob Marley.

@SentioBonus It is not my desire to insult the man or anyone else. He was a great musician, that is true. But, nobody's perfect. Just because I like his music, doesn't mean that I agree with his political and religious views. The bible is false and any movement that uses it will likewise be wrong. If you look close and with an open mind, you will see that is the truth. Religion needs to disappear if what we really want is peace. Peace.

When I read the Old Testament, I don't believe ALL the rules. I read it and it contributes to my opinion about the world, how it should be. And I can't say Rasta is intolerant. I can say the Old Testament is intolerant, but Rasta isn't intolerant, we are the opposite: we hope for unity and love between all men. And I can choose not to believe in Jah, fine. But don't insult him. I don't know nothing about him.

@SentioBonus There is no hatred in my heart. I'm just pointing out some facts. Like the fact that "Rastafari" culture is derivative of judeo-christian traditions and therefore, of the bible itself.  The fact that the bible is full of false predictions, intolerance and violence means no system that uses it can be upheld as sane or healthy. The fact that Haile Selassie I was a murderous tyrant, not some biblical prophet-god-king. Please. Educate yourself, please.
