Etna - Eruzione 1999

Quella del 1999 è stata una classica eruzione turistica, facilmente visitabile e senza conseguenze per l'uomo e le strutture umane.
Il tocco d'inizio l'Etna lo da alle 16.45 del 4 febbraio 1999 quando il Cratere di Sud-Est da vita ad un violento fenomeno parossistico è il 23° dal 15 settembre dell'anno precedente e il più violento. infatti il magma stavolta spinge troppo e il cono del Cratere di Sud-Est non regge alla pressione e si spacca in due, dalla frattura escono alte fontane di lava e una nube di cenere che viene spinta dai venti verso sud-overt. Contemporaneamente ai piedi del cono si apre una frattura da cui esce una colata che si getta all'interno della Valle del Bove. La colata che si vede nella prima parte del video spesso scorre sottoterra attraverso i tunnel di scorrimento lavico.
Quest'attività prosegue per tutta la primavera e l'estate del 1999. Ma a partire dal mese di settembre il Cratere Centrale e la Bocca Nuova iniziano a dare spettacolo con vigorose esplosioni ed emissioni di cenere. A partire dalla fine di ottobre la Bocca Nuova inizia ad emettere colate sul versante ovest, questo versante è molto ripido ed impervio, nel passato spesso la lava aveva attraversato questo lato del vulcano, l'ultima volta nel 1964.
Le colate si sovrappongono più volte ma l'energia è tanta e il 27 ottobre la lava arriva a quota 1700 tagliando la pista della Forestale e bruciando qualche esemplare di pino, faggio e betulla presente nella zona.
L'eruzione si ferma sia sul versante ovest che su quello di sud-est, dove ancora scorrevano le colate emesse dal Cratere di Sud-Est nel mese di novembre.

Since the end of October, the Bocca Nuova begins to emit lava on the west side, this side is very steep and inaccessible, in the past often had gone through the lava flow this side of the volcano, the last time was in 1964.
The lava flow are superimposed several times but the energy is great and October 27 the lava arrives at the track in 1700 by cutting and burning of Forester some exemplary pine, birch and beech in this area.
The eruption stopped in November 1999.

Lava temperature on etna is aeround 1.000 degrees. What do you intend for 'radiant heat'?

Anyway answer is "no", you would not die immediately... and can survice.

It happened to Guy De Saint Cyr of Aventure et Volcans travel agency (France). A crust broke under his feet and he had feet burned by boots on fire.

I also knew some other person who had to do a "lava walking" and it is not... recommanded. People isolated by two lava arm... space finished :-(

There was a volcanologist that fell into fresh lava when he was gathering it. He was in there for 15 seconds and had only the firesuit on. He got 1-3 degree burns but recovered. You would burn very rapidly but you would need to be in there for over 10 seconds to die. Plus it is so hot you would not get close enought to. It's about 1000-1500C.

you would die from the shock that woudl be before you reached it its radiant heat from 2500degrees when is a hard state and it can reach up to 8500 or more when deep red or bright orange so ya shock from the body would take effect
