Ashton in Benghazi promises rebels EU support

The European Union's head of foreign policy has gone to Benghazi in Libya promising support for the rebels who are fighting to overthrow Colonel Gaddafi's regime.




Catherine Ashton is the most senior foreign official to visit the country since the uprising began.




She also opened an EU office in Benghazi, the rebel stronghold city, and the epicentre of the anti-Gaddafi movement that erupted in February.

Bloggers from Libya report that there was a big car bomb explosion near a hotel in the Benghazi where this woman stationed. And that all the plans of EU in this city are canceled. Hope all of this is true :)

At least Gadaffi would treat these murderous people in a manner that their appetite for killing would justify, unlike the EU who have welcomed them in with open arms. I'm not saying Gadaffi is a good man but compared to those who oppose him, the 'rebels', US and the EU, he's a saint. Long live Colonel Gadaffi.

Catherine Ashton, a woman who has never won an election, is the most senior foreign official to visit the country. How the fuck the undemocratic EU attempts to take the moral highground while surporting the blood thristy rebels is beyond me. While Gadaffi was building schools, hospitals, roads, etc out of the nations oil wealth. The EU has been pushing through policies which have made Europeans poorer, and we continue to get poorer. The EU has broken down borders and undermine national.....
