New York Mayor and Times Square Firecracker Beneficiary, Bloomberg Trying To Work With Gov. Rendell To Stop Sale, Transportation Of July 4 Favorites Over State Lines Odd: Pennsylvanians Can Sell Them But Are Not Allowed To Use Them. That's because fireworks can be sold, but not used in Pennsylvania. Confusing? There's more: if you bring the fireworks across state lines back to New York or New Jersey, you can be arrested.
Inside the store, you're asked for identification and after you sign a document saying you understand the law and give the name and address on your driver's license, you see a veritable bazaar of people pushing carts up and down aisle after aisle.
Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Police Commissioner Ray Kelly put on a demonstration Thursday to show how dangerous transporting fireworks can be.
But, as CBS 2 HD saw Friday, business has not slowed.
We stopped one man who had left the store, and he agreed to talk to us, but didn't want to show his face.
"Uh, it's a funny law; the government of Pennsylvania allows them to be sold. I hope I'm not doing anything illegal, but again, it's a strange law. I mean, the state makes money from it. And the people of the state can't buy them. Then in New Jersey you can't buy them." the man said.
Somebody is making good money. One shopper figures he's spent more than $500.
"Five hundred bucks! I love 'em," the shopper said.
Some people who worry that their New York or New Jersey license plate might get them stopped when they cross the border go instead to a friend or relative's house in Pennsylvania. And then later, they make a swap that's worthy of something ... the Russian spies might do.
Mayor Bloomberg said Thursday he would call Gov. Ed Rendell of Pennsylvania to try and coordinate an anti-fireworks plan. The governor's office told CBS 2 HD on Friday the mayor had not called yet. A mayoral spokesman said Bloomberg would call the governor "in the next couple of days."

i went to that same phantom with ppl from pa they just told them not to touch anything, All there stuff is a rip tho & they use fillers, If you want good stuff search for wholesale fireworks theres plenty of diff ones out there. The only thing is a lot make you purchase whole cases, and they have min purchase limits of $200 and up in most cases.

We fought for independence. Some lawmakers, politicians try to take- that away from us, all the time, those lawmakers are un-American. And should leave this country and live in china or Russia or north Korea. where they belong. Communism socialism has no place in America. "if you kick an old dog long enough, one day. He just
Might turn around and bite ya."

Retards. When they made this law, they basically said that fireworks were too dangerous for their state, but they are OK with people from other states buying them. Even if you show a NY id they will sell to you. Yet, lighting off even a bottle rocket in NY will get your ass thrown in jail for at least 24 hours.
