Huun Huur Tu in Tuva, July 2007
"Work-in-progress" clip from the upcoming DVD "Been Away for a While. Huun Huur Tu in Tuva" (working title).
*************
As a baby bird who fell from the mother's nest/I will never see my mother agan/
Even if she'd appeared in front of me now/all those years of tears
and suffering without her wouldn't have gone away/... But I will never
see her again...

  • I think that we westerners in the last twenty years have been so coddled, so wrapped up in the built environment we don't really escape from, that we have lost touch with ourselves and each other. We have sanitized our humanity.

I have the album but this is the first time I have heard the Huun Huur Tu version in the raw, and it speaks to one's humanity so much more clearly than the Carmen Rizzo version. You're inside the Orphan's head. He's contemplative of his situation. He's utterly alone.

  • @AussieSteveBoyle

Thank you for your kind words! We love this version (even though it's a field recording)

  • check out the band's web site - there are three songs from a new album Eternal streaming there. It's the album of collaboration with Carment Rizzo, electronic musician from Los Angeles

  • oh my god... how rich is this sound...

  • What a sorrowful song. It makes me nostalgic for a place I have never been to, a friend I have never met and a time that has not come. Thank you @tantsev.

  • Truly magical.

  • Amazing.

I saw Huun Huur Tu live in toronto at the Mod club, either 1 or 2 years ago.

Then just this year, I had the honour of playing on the same stage as them...

I still felt their lingering essence... :P

  • mongol tvua neg ard tumen

  • Amazing...

  • Great song. I listened to it twice. Having lost my mother recently, it was easy for me to relate to.
