*WITH LYRICS!* She has a an amazing voice. From the lowest key, to the highest. (Just the song, not the Preformance)From the (1991) Broadway Show, 'Nick and Nora', Christine Baranski sings 'Everybody Wants to do a Musical'.

Lol, my 'moviemaking skills' or whatever you want to call it... is horrible. I already know it ;) But this movies point was just the song, and her.. so yeah.

Someone requested the Lyrics, so I played it and paused it until I got the entire song on Paper. So here are the lyrics! :)

Tracy Garder in a musical? Am I out of my mind?
The Papers may hurt me, my three fans desert me. But how else can I ever find, the chance I need to play the lead.

Everybody wants to do a musical, even me. That's the way I'll be a movie star. My career is near dead end, always cast as someones friend. Found a vocal coach who took me far. And he said I had the biggest range he'd ever heard to do a musical, 'E' to 'C'. Seems my chesatora's quite bizarre. My high 'C' may sometimes shreek, still, I hit it twice last week. Which proves that I can be a musical Star.

I get, big reviews, in the little megazines. But, i'm still under the title when my movie hits the screen. Everybody knows that I can act. Acting doesn't get the theatres packed. But, this does (low voice) la la la la la la la la la la la. And this does, (high voice) la la la la la la la la la la, and this does (low to high) la la la la la la la la la la.

Everybody wants to do a musical, ESPECIALLY me. Thats the way they'll notice, who you are. If my dancing drops a beat, they can always dub my feet, and thats the way I'll be a musical star.

With the fade out right before us, they can add an off screen chorus. And everyone will see, a musical... too!

(Apologies if some are the words are incorrect- please correct them, if you notice any!)

  • I love this song! But you mentioned if we notice anything:

Acting doesn't get the theatres "act" = I think instead of "act" it's "packed"

they can always "dunk" my feet = I think that one was "dub"

Still trying to figure out the blank word...then again, I could be wrong about the others. I can be pretty deaf most of the time. lol

  • @bgeeky I love it too!

I agree with both of them, as they both make pretty clear sense :)

    Haha! Thanks so much!

  • One of the BEST comedic musical numbers that eveyrone's seemed to have forgotten about.

  • Love that woman <3!

  • I just stumbled across this video, and I saw there was a discussion about some of the words. I didn't see and answer, so here it is. The blank words in the lyrics are "fade out" so the line reads "With the fade out right before us they can add an off-screen chorus."

  • "chesatora" is actually "tessitura"

  • Christine Baranski's Voice is soo amazing! I may only be 12 but even a 2 year old could reconize this amazing angelic voice ! (:

thanks so much for uploading ! (: <3

  • That's so kind of you to do that.

I have no idea what the unknown word is either (it sounded like penman to me!).

    Great video.

  • ps. also love her shoes! XD

  • Love this, just hear how she goes from 'E' to 'C'. amazing. And thank you so much for the lyrics! <3

    Lots of Love xxx
