So these are our five guinea pigs and their cage. 28 sq. feet. Using C&C (Cube and coroplast) for the cage and fleece and towels for bedding except in the "basement" where we use a carefresh-type material.

We started, in early June, with Vigo and Bert in St. Petersburg. Not long after we rescued Gabe, our youngest, just south of Port Canaveral. The last two, Skip and Milo, were adopted from a family who just had too many piggies and needed some help.

The cage has gone through many renovations and overhauls, but this is by far our favorite. Having all boars, it's been important to make it seem like more space than it actually is, so we've tried to split it up into several different sections so that they can get away from each other when they want to, but they have plenty of free space to run around and chase each other.

So that's the cage, the piggies, and the history. We'd love to hear any comments or suggestions about how we could provide a better life for our rescued piggies!

For more information on how to properly provide for cavies (guinea pigs), go to www.guineapigcages.com. The forum there is very active and FULL of information. Be warned: We are an anti-breeding, anti-showing, anti-pet store group, so if you support any of these things you may not feel as welcome there, though we're happy to inform you and hope to change your heart. We do this for the sake of the piggies, not just because they're cute, furry things.

http://craigslist.org/search/pet and www.petfinder.com are great places to rescue and adopt piggies. Please avoid breeders and pet stores as they're just continuing the over-population problem that leads to thousands of deaths for our piggy friends.

And to make Bob Barker proud, have your pets spayed or neutered!
