When lighting a lanter, try not to light when there is heavy wind.
Also, a using a campfire to make it heat up faster did not seem to work...

  • it disapears to quickly in the light, if you wait till dark you can see the fire for like five mins till it goes out of sight

  • you let it go way to early, 45 to 90 seconds

  • Man, you need to hold these for a bit longer to fill up with hot air - really it's best to wait at least a minute, not counting the time when the wick is going.

Also, this wind doesn't look tooooo heavy! Heavy wind would blow the lantern right out your hand- you certainly would lose it as soon as you let it go in heavy wind.

  • Launching in heavy wind is dangerous. During the first 10 or 15 seconds of the flight it is most vulnerable, there are a lot of disturbances to the airflow near ground level caused by buildings, trees etc. Little whirls, eddies, downdrafts etc. can cause it to crash while still lit and potentially start a fire.

Once it's cleared the first 30 or 40 feet it's ok but below that it's unpredictable.

This is why they always say launch them in calm or light wind conditions.

  • btw, cow's cant talk, so how would they shout " the sky is falling"! all in all a gr8 video and i went and got some, they are awesome!

  • where do you get the fire thing
