Cass lectures Reuben on being irresponsible for leaving Cass holding the bag with Reuben's parole officer while Reuben spent the summer in New York City with Josie. Frankie winds up refereeing and, in a way, pleading each man's case to the other, telling Reuben that Cass counts on Reuben and when he's late, Cass worries about him, and Cass stuck his neck out for Reuben and wants Reuben's cooperation. Then she tells Reuben not to get testy with Cass. Cass tells Reuben to stop being irresponsible and get it together. Reuben asks how he's supposed to do that. Frankie says Reuben should read his horoscope and throw the I Ching. "The I Ching?" Cass and Reuben ask in unison. Frankie then says that Cass should give Reuben some tips from his own experience, since there was a time Cass was always getting into trouble. Cass tells Frankie and Reuben a little bit about his gambling, Tony the Tuna, and Cecile kidnapping him after she became the Queen of Tanquir. Cass tells Reuben that he had great friends and he grew up. Frankie tells Reuben that he can call her and Cass for advice day or night. Cass says that would be better than hearing from jail. Reuben tells Cass and Frankie that they're something else, and they make a nice team. Cass tells Reuben to remember who the captain is. Frankie salutes Cass. Cass tells Reuben that footloose and fancy free and unreliable can really be fun, but after a while, it gets to be a real drag for everybody. Reuben says he'll remember that. Frankie tells Reuben she thinks some good things are around the corner for him. When Reuben asks if his horoscope says that, Frankie says no, she says that. Reuben tells Cass he'll make up the hours. Frankie says that's great, this is like a real breakthrough. Reuben leaves to deliver some papers to the hospital then, muttering about Tony the Tuna.
Hee - love it when soaps break the fourth wall - totally makes me giggle. Cass's history is a little, um, incredible when you hear it laid out like that. Reuben - man, I barely have any memory of who or what you were but you're right - they really did make a nice team. Thanks (yet again) for posting these scenes!
