20 minute final
3 video clips (7 minutes each)
Yesterday, Sunday 18 July, saw Wave House host the first South African leg of Red Bull Manny Mania, with the winner qualifying to skate in the world final in New York in August. The contest format focuses on the technical side of skateboarding and all tricks are only scored if a manual is present in the skater's run. The event itself was a huge success with over forty skaters entering. At the end of the day though there were only five skaters who qualified to skate the twenty minute final. Dlamini Dlamini (Dbn), Luke Jackson (Jhb), Keiran Mans (Cpt) and George van Blerk (Dbn) skated exceptionally technically but in the end it was Simon Stipcich (Dbn) with his consistent difficult links of flips, grinds and manuals that checked in first securing his window seat to catch a glimpse of the green lady herself, The Statue of Liberty. -- Words by Tyrone Bradley.
