Vocal support by fans in any sport can often be the difference between their side winning or losing. Ask any cricketer or footballer about that. What might sound like a drunken noise to some of us stuck-up Southerners, could actually inspire cricketers to perform better. If I wanted to "silence" the Lancs supporters I would want to do it by out singing them with my fellow Surrey supporters. Unfortunately that rarely happens.

You may be having a bit of banter and a joke. But instead of decribing the Lancs supprters as "Northern oiks", wouldn't it perhaps be a better response for you to add to the atmosphere by getting behind the home team, Surrey. You may be a neutral. Fair enough. I'm a Surrey supporter but I respect the Lancs supporters for getting behind their team. I actually wish my fellow Surrey supporters were a bit more vocal sometimes.
