McCain knew it was inspiring racism. They just refused to address it because they didn't want to be associated with it but didn't want the psychos to stop either. Same thing they're doing now; they just want as much dissent against the Democrats as possible regardless of the reason that resentment is there.

McCain is so out of touch. He lost control of his campaign. He stoked the fires of racism and xenophobia and wonders why racism at his rallies gets media attention. They woke the sleeping dog on purpose and now it's biting them in the ass.
