@sdkjhsdglih well, Superman is in his mid-thirties, while Supergirl was around seventeen or eighteen...maybe that has something to do with it.

@sdkjhsdglih it was also supposed to be more of a glide when her arms were outstretched,but if you ever watch the movie,you'd see plenty of scenes where she flys with arms straight ahead.

@sdkjhsdglih If I suddenly got the power to fly, I'd fly carefree like that as well for a while, just enjoying the shit out of being able to fly. Once I got used to it, then I'd fly in a more conservative manner.

I never saw Supergirl, but, I grew up with Christopher Reeve's Superman. Why did they have Supergirl fly with her arms outstretched, instead of straight ahead like Superman?

I don't know. Im guessing because Supergirl is portrayed as more youth spirited and carefree?
