I tried those new Purex sheets that have detergent on most of it, plus a green strip of fabric softener, so you put it in the wash, then transfer to the dryer so you don't need a dryer sheet, but my washer washes the green strip right off! What will they come up with next. (Oh, the Bounce "bar"...I don't think that's a great idea either.)
I remember this commercial from when I was a kid. My mother always hated it (along with Bold & Fab), because she always told me that detergent & fabric softener in one never worked. She said clothes weren't as clean due to the softener being in the wash cycle. All I know is that these versions (including Tide with a touch of Downey) stink to me.
Solo was introduced around 1980 or 1981, but P & G discovered that Bold-3 (the powdered detergent-plus-fabric-softener) was a better-known name than Solo. So, around 1986, Solo became liquid Bold-3 and, as scorpio3738 notes, the name was sold to another company (in fact, I think the company that now makes Top Job ammonia cleaner). Bold is still sold in Europe, but P & G has let it die in the states...

So 80s! All I can say is, thank the good lord for fabric softener dispensers and my good old trusty Downy ball!

I can't believe you have this to post! :)
I was looking for that other version as well, but I'm so pleased to see this one anyway. Thanks!

I remember the one where she runs down about four flights of stairs to the basement, stepping on the cat's tail in the process--"Sorry!"
