Approx. thirty orphaned baby elephants are protected in Elephant Transit Home (ETH) in Udawalawe national park, Sri Lanka. The baby elephants are gathering in crowd, and playing at the park in the daytime. They come back to the ETH at milk-feeding times (9:30, 12:30, 15:30 and 18:30). (There are eight times of milk-feeding per a day in total).
At the feeding duration, baby elephants wait at the entrance and enter sequentially by two. Young baby elephants can emulate elder elephants behaviors. The elephants' wisdom is greatly surprised.
This movie was taken in the twilight zone. The baby elephants are protected in ETH at nighttime. The elephants are fixed at the neck or foot with the rope, and then young baby elephants take a rest in the covered stock.
The baby elephants are raised up to 5 or 6 years old, and returned to the jungle.
Music by Prof. Premadasa Hegoda (Sri Lankan Sitarist)
