The conductor doesn't even have the slightest bit of control about the orchestra, not to speak about the connection to the singer. Way too slow, the different groups aren't homogenic enough, there's no unity within the whole ensemble. Regarding the beforementioned aspects the performance given by Jennifer Larmore has to be appreciated even more. Brava!

There are those who say that wearing a suit and tie is already being in Hell, so maybe it works here.

not good at all.

Yes, indeed, this orchestra has no flow! Who has the baton!? This sounds so heavy.

muy bella voz y muy bonita aria.

Certified Intergalactic! Larmore is the best mezzo soprano in her generation.

with all due respect I don't think that ending was her choice. Jennifer definitely has the ability to sing F's as well as much much higher and she's not afraid to show off so I think it may have been a choice by the conductor or director of this production... I agree though on the breaths in the middle of words

I too am not well versed in grasping tempo, but this is bad--if I notice it, others must. Lamore is still just wonderful. I adore her.
Kowalski is the best at this aria.

Is the orchestra playing very badly or is it just me? And is the aria taken too slow? or is it just me? Love Larmore though.

you're absolutely right: I don't know who's conducting, but he made Jenny feel very uncomfortable, and only her enormous talent made her get it to the end! I posted this video ONLY because it's presenting Jenny and wasn't posted before by anybody else! off course, Jenny deserved better!
