  • how does one convert if jews are descended from abraham? how could they be actual jews?

  • @insanic1 The main idea of being a Torah Jew is to fully accept the responsibilities of the Torah law. Once a person goes through the proper process of conversion they are viewed as a new born child whose "legal" father in the eyes of God is Abraham.

  • Doesn't the Torah proclaim that the Jews will be persecuted pretty much till the end of the world and God puts his kingdom on earth? It is a miracle that such a hated people for so many years (and such a small country) could still survive. Is there anything the Jew can do to satisfy its neighbors and stop the hatred?

  • @SilverStar40

The persecution can be understood on many different levels, but Orthodox Jews believe that this persistent antisemitism is a constant reminder to the Jewish people of their obligations to themselves and the world at large. Consider the following analogy. An overweight person wants to shed some pounds. Instead of wearing his comfy sweat pants he starts wearing jeans that are slightly tight. That constand discomfort reminds him of his need to be healthy.

  • @thewonderingjew So too with antisemitism. As long as we are constantly being the scapegoat for the worlds problems we will always stand united and remember our heritage and our responsibilities to better ourselves and the world around us.

  • i just learned gerut. If someone converts without being kabbalat mitzvot they arent jewish except according to the Rif

  • This gentleman is right on the money about converts. I am a Reformadox Jew. My immediate family is Reform, but most of my extended family is Orthodox. I realize that becoming Orthodox would be a huge step for me, but not impossible. I can't imagine a gentile becoming an observant Jew. My old synagogue had a convert. She was a total meshuga and no one trusted her.

  • @gusswilliams they're jealous they weren't chosen. (jk)

  • @BirthologybySarah No, we believe in making the won we got better.

  • @Hechtie18 Because it's part of the prophecy. read psalms 83 for just an example ("come, they say, let us destroy them as a nation so that the name of Israel in rememberd no more...")

  • @SilverStar40 Yep, it does, and no, we can't, it's part of the prophecy...
