On Monday 25th January 2010 there was a power cut in Auckland.

During the power cut we filmed this intersection (Union St + Wellington). We filmed again at exactly the same time the next day for a comparison.

Proof that left to their own devices, without regulations and restrictions, people can pretty much look after themselves.

Power cut is on the left. With no traffic lights it's often observed that traffic flow improves. The traffic on the road below is the same on each side, so it would be safe to assume the videos were taken at different times.

In 2009 A place in the UK called Portishead got rid of all of their traffic lights as an experiment to see if it would improve their constant traffic problems. the trial was so successful they got rid of them completely, and still do not have any. /watch?v=vi0meiActlU
