I sevred in the Congo with the Irish UN troops I think it was good for the Irish army to get out of Ireland and see the rest of the world that is what soldering is about. I don't think it was a disaster far from it . It was a learing point for the Irish army . After I served my time in the Irish army I joined the British army and then the Canadian army and I got to see most of the world.Proud to have served. R.I.P the lads who never made it home . (My views only) God Bless you all.
Though at the same time, it was nice to see some black and white footage, there is too much here on youtube or old videos of Irish soldiers or political people.
50 Year Commemoration of Irish troops in Congo, This was to thank our brave Irish Soldiers and one person was missing our President (Commander In Chief of all Irish armed forces) she thought it was more important to attend a falling out parade for new psni officers up in N.Ireland. I attended this a was sickened and offended and her showing Disrespect to my Grandfather and all Irish Soldiers who have served with the United nation in the past and the future. May we never let her forget

The president hasn't done her job anyway, let alone be witness to a parade.
The Minister for Defence is the real commander, we must not forget that. The president doesn't have any real importance.
The Irish politicians of the era should of thought more about they're own Army, instead of going to the Congo, I think the mission was a disaster.
Those TD's were wrong to vote yes on this.
