Russians are also due to vote in parliamentary elections and Oksana Antonenko, a Russian analyst, joins the show to reflect upon what these mean for the Vladimir Putin, the Russian president.

venezuela has a 400 billion GDP and massive undeveloped energy resources. Venezuela can be a great ally of Russia - its perfect in position and has a strong economy and energy resources to support a strong military capability.

I think Putin is doing very well pursuing this alliance.
