I disagree with the comments below. Lataji sings parts well but overall her rendering totally lacks emotions and transformation into a different mood based on the words and tune of this song. Even technically, Lata's rendition is not perfect to my ears. For example, in the first line she does not smoothly transform the notes from the word "samay" to "O"...she gives a gap there that breaks the smooth flow of the song. She does the same thing on different occasions throughout the song. (contd)

@sakibali786 additionally If one listens to this song only, one may conclude that Lata's voice has more gravity and feel to it..I think Asha's best work was her ghazals in Umrao Jan..but there also Lata seems to surpass in Pakeezah
