****** young ones these days, queuing up buying property all around them, i knew this one 15 year old lad, owned like 50 houses, ah sure he'll pay for it there the next 50 years of his life, paying ridiculous income tax, paye etc. while supprting his mothers and fathers drinking, tv addictions, paying 500 a week on a nursing homes, god bless older generations, who weren't stupid enough to buy into all the crap.
@seanankerr Nobody remembers the queues outside hotels for foreign property exhibitions? Nobody knows people who re-mortgaged for a new car or another property?
Cognitive dissonance, denial call it what you want, but Iain't buying it. Time for people to grow up.
@lordkilmainham Oh dear, look it's very simple, a bank like any other business offers a professional service, they are the experts. If a loanee asks "can I afford this?" & the bank says "yes," the customer in trusting that, is taking onboard what they believe to be expert advice & not -as our glorious leader will have it- exhibiting signs of insanity. I think you'll find personal responsibility is not the done thing anywhere, it's known as the "confirmation bias" & is consistent across cultures.
@lordkilmainham To lay the blame at the feet of the Irish population would be myopic. If the banks made it easy to get access to credit/mortgages that surely isn't the fault of the customer.

@JebusOGoldberg To absolve the borrower entirely of blame is myopic. Personal responsibility is not the done thing in Ireland.

@kerronoluain The 'we all partied' line is pure spin, aimed at making the population feel that what is happening now is their own fault.
