Really? Did anyone notice that it the ignition sequence was labeled "detonation" which would be the last thing you would want going on in the COMBUSTION chamber. I know the author references "knocking/pinging" which is the same as detonation. but I don't think he/she was saying that's what was happening here. Some of you may know this and some may not. I learned it too, detonation=supersonic combustion=damage. you want deflagration=subsonic combustion

@Joeviocoe You are still wrong. What I think you're referring to is pre-ignition. Detonation is super sonic and can wreak havoc on your engine if it is strong enough. Normal combustion in a normal auto engine does not include any form of detonation.

Actually... "knocking/pinging" is known as "PRE-detonation" And many lazier people incorrectly drop the "Pre". Detonation is what happens during combustion... and does not damage engines if the timing and speed of the explosion is correct.

@doraemon8061 Id say its a lively little thing with so much power and so little weight, they hold the road well too from what i understand.

@TrueBlueEG8 It's a RenaultSport car. it's tuned originally by factory.
-
@doraemon8061 Indeed, its an excellent idea, but i do like a bit of bhp with my mpg! 210hp from your clio, yea? thats not standard though,is it?
-
@TrueBlueEG8 I know it has low horsepower, but the good thing of this system DOES minimize the fuel consumption. And the emmisions are much less compared from other cars. I could get 210bhp from my 2.0L 4-cyl naturally aspirated RenaultSport Clio though.....
-
@doraemon8061 yeah and my 1.6 honda came with 160bhp, and that was almost 20yrs ago, progress my arse.

It's good for fuel efficency, but the problem is the lack of power. The Prius 1.8 only got 98bhp from a 1,795cc 4-cyl engine...... The 1.6 liter engine from a Peugeot 308 alredy produces 110bhp naturally aspirated....
mazda millenia have this type of engine and its cool! with supercharger

@manolo44op Hello, good point but the Millenia is a Miller-Cycle. Same principle of valve timing, but different timing. Thanks so much for posting...
