This is horrific. The whole thing is horrific. This pastor is a psychopath. Listen how he talks about his own two adoptive children like they are pound pups. Why would anyone trust their children with someone who treats his own adoptive children the way he admits to dCNN continued series on "Ungodly Discipline" Gary Tuchman reporting. I was in an Accelerated Christian Education school and can vouch that this sort of thing goes on in many private religious schools not just Baptist schools.

Yes the Bible says, "Spare the rod, spoil the child." There is another verse that says, "Do not provoke your children to wrath."

It's a shame how the enemy will attack a place that has done so much for their surrounding communities. They use their own resources to bus in all comers and teach them about Jesus Christ. I've been riding the bus with my 3 daughters and several others of my family members for months Never, not once have I seen anything inappropriate, physical or sexual. As far as this select few speaking out, I wonder if it isn't fabrications? Out of the tens of thousands of people that went to the church all

This kid saying he doesn't know how to love somebody-please don't blame Fairhaven for that. Fairhaven sends hundreds of people every week into Gary, Indiana to help the poor, invite them to church, and hopefully rescue some from drugs and other addictions. I did it for 3 years while at Fairhaven, and I am very proud of that. Moreover, all of the bus kids loved riding our bus, and there was absolutely no abuse for kids that were sometimes difficult to control.

I know one thing - If I had gotten the paddle a few more times as a kid I wouldn't have skipped school and gotten into so much trouble before I became a Christian. I also would have shown my mother more respect. However, I think this organization may have gone to far with disciplining other people's kids.

It is funny how the reporters sought out people who were against the school. I went to Fairhaven Baptist College, and yes, they are tough. However, I became a better person as a result, and I learned about Christian Discipline. Then again, I wasn't crazy about some of the staff. I believe there was a false balance there with everybody playing Christian Tough Guy, and the whole "it will build your character" routine got old after awhile and I could see how it might be used to excuse bad behavior.

Completely one-sided! I went to the college for 3 years in the early 90s. It wasn't exactly my brand of Christianity, and I am a fundamental baptist believer. However, I never witnessed any abuse by the staff. I was 18 years old when I went there. No abuse. I wasn't exactly their kind of Christian. I was a bit "worldly" as they put it. Moreover, I did play piano but no one called me a fag for doing so. I respect the Pastor, but I wouldn't say that they're not a bit excessive with the discipline
