In early 2010, Arizona-based Knight Transportation purchased 370 Volvo VN 670s equipped with the very latest technology for exhaust treatment. Now the company meets its environmental targets. Company President Kevin Knight explains why most of his fleet are Volvos.

I worked for Knight for 4 years and thought they were a great company. There was little down time, if there was no load where you were they would send you where there was one with paid miles.

No APU? Idle, it is the solution for the driver sleeping in Arizona.

@nal2us2 Thanks! No I quit them awhile back and YES I agree with your assessment. I just like to come and be reminded from time to time how much they suck and how good life is after Knight.

One things for sure. Kevin cares much more about his equipment than he does about his drivers. A darn shame.

@txkid123 Yeah well you can blame that on the crack group of dispatchers like the ones at the Atlanta terminal. Guys with much less education than you and I and always encouraging lying on the logs and to customers as well. Happiest day of my life was getting out of the Knight vortex and back to a real job off the road. I feel your pain dude.

The environmental aspect? WTH where's the APU's? Those are good for the environment. How can you expect a driver to sleep in Arizona? He will idle the truck. That's real good for the environment. Spent two years at that company, probably drove 20,000 miles chasing empties and loads that were put onto another truck. How is that good for the environment?
