Max and Monkey tells the story of two best friends - Max, a good-natured college freshman, and his pet Monkey, a wise-cracking, sarcastic talking monkey. Monkey is the 'Oscar' to Max's 'Felix' in this 'Odd Couple' set in the 21st century comedy. This second episode installment features the voice talents of Lucas Grabeel from Disney's 'High School Musical' as the voice of both an obnoxious musician and Max's college dorm RA. This episode finds Max hard at work at his job at the concession stand at the local hipster cafe/music venue, when Monkey arrives to tell him to stop acting like a wimp since his girlfriend broke up with him and come have fun. Monkey makes up an excuse for Max to leave early and the buddies head over to their favorite comic book shop. When Max runs into his current crush Katie, he's embarrassed, and Monkey only aggravates the situation. Katie invites them to a party later that night at their friend Brian's dorm, and Max says hopefully he'll see her there. Max then annoys Monkey again with his complaining and self-pity, and the two part ways. But these best friends can't stay mad at each other for long - they reunite later at the party when Monkey defends Max's honor against his ex-girlfriend Jenna, and Max saves Monkey from making a drunken fool out of himself. It's a true bromance, after all.

I'm being honest and truthful when I say that we should track down the author of this series and beg him to continue making episodes. This is probably the only thing from aniboom that has really made me laugh out loud. It is really a clever show, and I actually care about the characters.
