Here, Bill does a 635 Chain-suspended Round-back Good Morning with a cambered bar (aka "Westside Bar"). Notice that he doesn't have a belt on. Back then, several guys at South Side followed a STRICT Westside template. This is still the case. The belt generally only goes on to squat.

This footage is probably from about 2002. Billy was around 320 at the time, I think.

  • The only reason why he is bending his spine is because he has tight hamstrings. it is dangerous because you are isolating your lower back before your hamstings as a good morning is targeted for your hamstrings.

  • Wrong. He's bending his spine because it's a round-back good morning.

  • they cant be good for your spine, correct me of im wrong

  • You either want to have a strong back, or you don't. Your choice.

  • no mate i aint insultin or anythin, but ive always been told to never round your back if you are supprtin weight, and 635 is a lot of weight. i was asking you to explain why it isnt dangerous

  • Oh ok. Well, I never claimed it wasn't dangerous. But it's like Louie said: if what we did to get strong was safe, we wouldn't do it.

  • nice dude way de go .

  • Rounding the upper back is safe. Rounding the lower back is not. Looks like his lower back is pretty flat.
