Somewhere between Monteverde and Quepos, Mr. Das and Mr. Maxwell eat the fruit of a cashew plant hand-picked by their bus driver. Like mango, cashew fruit is a relative of poison ivy. They were told right before eating it, not to let the skin of the fruit touch their mouths...they may or may not have listened...
I am from south America, we had a cashew tree right outside the house so we all ate the fruit and skin just like you would eat an apple no one had a rash like you describe in this video, it was yummy, work on doing a little research =)

What a load of scat. I was born in Panama, lived there 30 yrs. We all ate the fruit +skin. And it is not that we natives are immune, we had american friends visit and they would eat skin & fruit with no ill effect. Now the nut will not only give you a rash, it will burn like hell. I made the mistake at the age of 5 to bite into a greenish nut and the gates to hell opened up. Grandma poured heaps of sugar in my mouth to counteract the burn effect. The fruit +skin is edible and very yummy.

Thats not a strange fruit, thats a cashew, a tropical fruit and who says you can't eat the skin....Cashew is usually eaten with the skin. what you should not eat is the seed which is the bean on the outside of the cashew..the seed is actually poisonous but the nut inside the seed can be roasted and eaten just like the cashew fruit is edible...usually the nut inside the cashew seed is roasted together with the entire seed which kills of the poison in the seed is easily broken to reveal the nut.
