  • Do these hospitals have foundations that help the indigent and homeless receive health care?

  • Yes, many of our hospital clients have charities and foundations that may, in some cases, team with local civil society organizations and government bodies to provide free medical services that are much appreciated by surrounding communities. And some operate "cross subsidization" models to provide services for lower income groups. We expect to post a separate YouTube video on this subject shortly.

  • Do these hospitals treat poor people who do not have health insurance?

  • Please note that business and revenue models for private sector client organizations vary widely, with revenues typically generated from a mix of user fees, health insurance, and government contracts as the means to pay for services.

  • Enjoyed watching the video. Makes it clear to us how IFC can make profit in the health care business and still serve the public good. IFC goes into emerging markets like China, India, Mexico, Nigeria and South Africa but does not shy away from challenging markets like Afghanistan. As the Chinese health care business spokesperson explains, IFC also acts like an international chamber of commerce and more. Congrats to IFC!

  • I am looking for more information on the Apollo Reach hospitals in India. Thanks.

  • Very informative video. I am interested in attending your next health conference. Thanks.

  • I heard that, in addition to loan financing, the IFC is also giving grants to subsidize health insurance in Nigeria. It would be interesting to see if, in 2-3 years, such projects can become self-sustaining. I think the jury is out on those.

  • Excellent video...working..I work with the insurance industry in India in the life insurance space, but I follow closely the work being done in the health sector. I think the IFC performs a key role in India in improving health care access there

  • The video clearly demonstrates that the International Finance Corporation works with companies in many developing countries from Afghanistan to Nigeria and from Nicaragua to China and India. I am sure the conditions in some of them, including Afghanistan, may be beyond challenging. I would

like to find out more about the Afghanistan hospital and the difficulties and rewards involved with doing business in that country.
