capoeira was created by slaves in Brasil to escape from the portuguese soldiers. thats why it looks like an innocent dance, just to show off, that way they could pratice and the soldiers wouldnt be alarmed. but capoeira fighters were incredably strong, and the portuguese army had more trouble fighting escaped slaves who pratice capoeira, than the invaders armys from holland. dont underestimate capoeira.

It really isn't a dance, but when you do capoeira, you have to move in the same harmony with your partner, like by the dances. i think, it's not a huge mestake, to say it's a dance.
