I recently fixed my record player as the tone arm was not automatically picking up before and after playing a record. Turns out the tone arm belt which is this piece of rubber had disintegrated due to the age of the player. I just found an old elastic band and it done the trick. Also the cartridge needed replacing so I got a great one... the Sure M97Xe. I'm loving it. let the record hunting commence!

  • That's a very warped record. The brush on that helps tracking those. What do you have your tracking force set at? I understand the brush exerts about 1/2 gram pressure.

  • @Jubal24 hey yeah I found this record in a dumb so I wasnt expecting much but plays pretty well, thanks for the tip, me being dumb I was thinking that brush was to clean the record from dust! my tracking is at 3.5

  • On that cartridge the Tracking force is: 0.75 to 1.5 grams. You sure set it to 1.25 grams. 3.5 is way to much for that cartridge and you will wear out your records faster.

  • @sambam007 .....you need to fix that asap. 3.5 grams is WAY TOO MUCH tracking force for this cartridge.

  • Nice turntable.

You gotta love those old Technics.

    Thanks for sharing.
