first horse ive ever owned. a little rough around the edges in some areas(for now), but overall a good starter horse for me. she rides really smooth once she gets warmed up. this is an older horse, 13 years old, hasnt been rode in quit a while before i got her. straight out the pasture she rides like a cadillac but im starting over with her, taking her back through all the ground work. i can tell though by how far she's come since ive had her, that she has the potential to be one of the best riding saddle horses in the south.

  • boy i like that side pull chech up you did at the 50 sec mark that a good lesson that any new ride need to learn i really like how low you did it ive seen so many people make one rare up by not keeping that hand waist high ive seen horses run off out of control on a ride and the only way they get him stop is when the whole pack stop keep that horse any well broke horse is worth keeping no matter what age is its worth the skin on your ass and your safe tee thats worth all the fun

  • @sacmmaan that technique is called the 1 rein stop...your rite, thats the first thing any new rider should know...if done properly it will most definately save your azz on any horse

  • got right now. Soften up how you do things, let her respond to a small ask. If you pull with no stopping point to your hand and don't give her the chance to think about what your asking she'll pull back or move off instead of stand and move her nose around. Having a horse that listens and has speed..that is THE BEST! Good luck. She's a nice mare. (I put this into 3 comments as the whole comment wouldn't fit. I hope you're not offended. I'm really impressed with your mare and wish you the best.)

  • You pulled her around with no slack before you mounted and that was the beginning of her not liking what you were doing. Having your hand hip level when you asked for her to bring her nose to your leg is the right height for this maneuver. Have you ever tried a pinchless walking horse bit or low port or medium port pinchless? She might do better for you in one of those. She's a bit under weight. If you got her in shape, that mare could FLY! I just wouldn't push her, she's giving you all she's..

  • Very nice mare. A one rein stop or simply standing the horse and asking for her to turn her head to your leg is the best thing to teach a horse. I teach all of my horses this, first through ground work and then on their back. I ask them to bring their nose around and I keep them their, with a loose enough rein that they hold their own head there, before I get on. I'd like to see your hands be softer on her mouth. She is soft and responsive before you mounted her and was talking to the camera

  • say thats a damn good horse just keep workin wit her... an when tryin to flex her neck tell her flex instead off whoap...an dont push her just let hu hit dat lick trust me she has more of speed!!! just let her kno if shes gonna get to the top she has to do it right..Nice horse>>
