@grandmagrumpy "The Interlude from Pietro Mascagni's beloved opera "Cavalleria Rusticana" was arranged by Robert Sadin for vocal duet and orchestra using a familiar Roman Catholic prayer. Life is joy and sadness, rejoicing and mourning. Joy without pain is giddy and flighty, pain without joy is despondent and hopeless. Holy Mary, pray for us"

yes, it was an arrangement that they made.

Were these words added after the opera Cavalleria Rusticana was completed?
Did somebody just want to use the intermezzo for those words?
In fact, there are no words in the "Intermezzo", but great singers recorded with the prayer of the "Virgin Mary".
