Homeworld Core
.... This level is very difficult. 'Nuff said. Follow the strategy and you should get through it with minimal problems. I sped up the boss fight here because it was really repetitive.
Primary Mission:
Fly through the level and defeat the boss
Boss:
Aparoid Queen
Level Strategy for Badge:
I'll make this quick, to make more room for the boss strategy.
- Shoot every enemy in sight, if you can. Charge shots help.
- Be sure to save Krystal and Slippy. They both give you a ring, each.
- I would only recommend saving Falco if you think you can do it. His flight pattern is erratic and hard to follow, and he only gives you a bomb in return anyway.
- Learn where to brake, and where to boost, at the final obstacles.
- While facing the really tough enemies, don't sit there and try to kill them. They take a -ton- of shots to kill off. Just wait until Star Wolf lures them away. Be sure not to get hit by them, when they do.
- Grab the third and final ring after Star Wolf lures away the enemies. You're gonna need it, if you've lost any health.
Boss Strategy:
First Stage:
Lo and behold, she's got a pink weak point node. But where is it? Under her armor. Immediatly start shooting at the armor on her lower section to expose the node. Get in some free shots before she starts spinning, and brake after she starts spinning to get even more shots. Be careful when she stops, though, as that's when she prepares for her first attack.
When she starts charging up red energy, heed Falco's advice and take evasive maneuvers. Fly around behind her to avoid the devastating homing lasers she fires. She will also spew out aparoid larvae, which will follow you and ram your Arwing. Be sure to shoot those when you can, as some of them release power ups when they're destroyed.
When her armor reforms, after the laser attack, simply repeat this entire strategy until her health is depleted.
Difficulty: ***
Second Stage:
The queen is supressing the program Fox fired into her, and she's trying to escape! Star Fox won't let this happen, that's for sure. Once the battle starts, begin firing at the four pink nodes, one at a time, until they all close. (she makes a sound to let you know when it's fully closed).
Then she will expose a dragon-like head, that will proceed to fire a weird beam at you. Barrel roll through the beam to avoid getting hit. But before you can attack her, she will swipe at you with the dragon head, and this can do serious damage. I don't know what to say to avoid this, as she seems to home onto you no matter where you're flying. Just fly around and pray she doesn't hit you, I guess. If you take too long to deplete her health here, she will fly far ahead of you, out of the reach of your lasers, and you will have to fly through pink electrical pulses, which are difficult to avoid.
All 3 of your wing mates will fly ahead of you eventually, one at a time, to try to get a few shots on the queen. Defend them against the mines the queen fires, as they each give you a ring when they're done. Once her health is depleted, stage 3 will start.
Difficulty: ******
Third Stage:
The queen is getting desperate now. She is now in her final and most vulenerable form. But it's also he most powerful. She resembles a Radar Jammer from the Corneria level, and therefore, can only be attacked when her single "eye" is opened.
She has two attacks of her own, which she does rapidly in succession, one after the other, with a random attack each time. She will shoot a powerful Fire Beam (like Pigma's in the Asteroid Field), and she will shoot a Tunnel Beam, which you will need to fly through without hitting its "walls". If you successfully avoid these, and manage to kill her off this time, then congratulations! You've just beaten Star Fox Assault on gold! Go pat yourself on the back and then ask yourself why the heck you did this.
Difficulty: ****
Second and Third boss fight stages will be up as soon as I can beat them. For now, watch the "blooper reel". Enjoy!

I don't like it when my wing breaks and I have to earn hyper lasers again.

look bud, I really appreciate the comments, I always love comments. But do you -seriously- have to tell me how to play the game? I know where the towers are in level 4, I know you can switch weapons on wing riding. The only thing I can't do at the moment is defeat the final boss on Gold. If you have any tips on that, I'd be glad to take them, but otherwise, please keep your game knowledge to yourself when it comes to commenting.
