What an honor,
what a joy,
so much peace...
peace, like a deep pool

Jump into the river of life—
let it take you!
Have you not paddled upstream long enough?
Are your bones not weary
from the resistance of what truly is?

Yes, my friend—
the river of life flows down.
Your holy task is to release the oars,
and let life take you!

Enjoy the journey—
smile when it's impossible;
be the light of life!
Yes, look at the beauty all around

[Upstream] is the way that
our society would tell us to go:
"Don't be biological,
don't be spiritual!
Buy things!
Seek for your happiness outside of yourself!
If you just keep going you will find it!"

And yet, it always eludes us—
when we chase after that
which is outside of ourselves...

But the mystic turns around
[from society's wishes],
releases the oars,
and lets life take him,
without fear—
with a childlike glee, to see:
what does the universe have in store for me?

Yes, the mystical journey is an inward one.
Reading about opinions, facts and knowledge is fun.
But I believe that at this time
you are saturated with the tools that you need,
and now courage and faith are the only tools
that you need for the remainder of this journey.

Release the oars!
Flow with life!
Develop your own experience,
and live in that truth forever...

Remember, the kingdom of heaven is within you.
Peace be with you, my friends—
Peace be with you.

  • I am keen to try mindfulness meditation to see if it can help my depression and maybe even help me to recover from my eating disorder - does anyone think it could help, and what's the best way to learn? (bearing in mind my finances are limited, to say the least)

  • Step #1... start referring to it as "the" depression and "the" eating disorder and you will have almost completely solved both problems! :)

  • Hi! Have you considered - fast abs magic (just google it)? Ive heard some awesome things about it and my brother in law got amazing Six pack abs and lost a lot of weight with it.

  • Um, this isn't a guided mediation. A guided walk in a river perhaps, but not a mediation for losing weight.

  • More than 50 years ago I used to go to a place like this in New Hampshire. The moms would make a picnic lunch and take their daughters to "Paradise Falls" I e-mailed this video to my friend whose mother took us there (walking) and asked her simply if it reminded her of anything. Her immediate response....."Paradise Falls" Thank you for bringing that most precious of childhood memories and the calmness and coolness and tranquility...breathing in the pine air.

  • Thanks very much :) i used to do yoga so hopefully i have a good foundation, i've already started focussing on my breathing and i've actually noticed my dreams getting better, weirdly enough!

  • Meditation can surely help, because it's about concentrating your mind. If you're mind is concentrated you can do loads of amazing things :) The best way to learn is to put on some nice music and sit quietly, or with no music and begin to take note of all the thoughts that run through your head without consultation! The first step is being aware. Then you can begin to calm the mind, and try to consciously make the choice of what to think about. Relax and take it easy :) It's for your well being.

  • Meditation is something that can be done at anytime of the day. You can meditate during daily activities. However if you're just starting off, it's important to learn how to clear your mind first, so you can then begin to focus on only the things you wish to focus on, instead of having your mind try to think through too many things at once.

  • as hard as it is to appreciate that a difference of pronoun could change my life, it is definitely a good start and i actually believe what you are saying, so thankyou, you are a good person :) I definitely feel like my life is going in a new direction since i discovred mindfulness, i suppose because it has to x
