Why wondering about the fact that he wrote in English? To reach a larger audience probably, it's anyway a Germanic language, but who really cares? Just enjoy this awesome song! ;) \m/

This inspired me to take up Contemporary Paganism....my roots.

@KompEvgeny To get to the broader public (did I use correct words?)
-
True viking metal

@Pshynosis Well, that very well could be it also, but I doubt it. It is hard enough to write amazing poetic lyrics like this in ones native language. Doing it in a foreign language is much more difficult.
-
@purplesquirrl Why do you think Quorthon thinked about this so deeply? Maybe he just wanted to make songs in English, just for fun or something?
-
@Pshynosis Ahhh true, but my point is, English is spoken everywhere. You can go to Brazil, China, Japan, France, Sweden, Finland, Egypt, anywhere at all almost, and find many English speakers.
Swedish...not so much. Also, another reason, Bathory always used small distribution labels. It would be hard for a smaller label to translate the albums the lyrics for the album sleeve and things. Back then you couldn't just copy everything into google translate or something.
