This was our Engineering Design II project for the Fall 2009 semester.

We had to test the characteristics of an electric motor, find its peak power, and design a gearbox around that that would enable us to lift a 20 lb "elevator" cab. We then had to design a control system to be able to safely raise and lower the elevator cab between floors.

This is just a quick collection of some pictures, clips, and presentation slides from throughout the year so we can remember the project. This semester I had a pretty good team dynamic and I would especially like to thank my team members Aaron and Qayyum, and my Professors for making this fun project possible.

  • Looks like your using an old Otis floor selector to run your simulator.

Good to see a bit of R & D still going on in the elevator industry.

  • nice! haha. now it just needs one of my elevator fire recall systems.
