la liberté en colère -- freedom outraged -- english subs -- part 2 of 6

Part 2 of a 1994 full-length documentary produced by the National Film Board of Canada and directed by Jean-Daniel Lafond, "La liberté en colère". Documentary is centered on a friendly countryside gathering of four former prominent members of "Front de Libération du Québec", namely Francis Simard, Pierre Vallières, Charles Gagnon and Robert Comeau. Very stylishly done by ultra-talented, France-born Lafond, if somewhat reeking of cheap visual rhetorics unconsciously targeted at denigrating the FLQ. Even the beautiful, masterfully-written songs by Michel "Plume" Latraverse occasionnally elaborates arguable metaphors around the kind of Freedom fought for by the heroic FLQ.

Nonetheless, this document features rare video and film footage, witnessing the profound involvement of four unselfish, dedicated men, and helping us to better appreciate the gigantic contribution of this remarkable Québec Patriot who was Pierre Vallières. Our Irish friends will want to pay special attention to the debates between Gagnon and Vallières. It will remind them of the differences of views that existed between Michael Collins and James Connolly, prior to the birth of their great nation.

The NFBC displays this film on its website in beautiful HD, without English subs. A grossly vulgar and crude attempt at hiding an aspect of Québec's historical reality from english-speaking people, to avoid that this aspect may incite the ROC to "turn the lights on" and get rid of "Ottawa and Bay Street (1867), Inc."

Le célèbre documentaire produit en 1994 par l'Office National du Film du Canada et réalisé par le talentueux Jean-Daniel Lafond, d'origine française. Ce docu extrêmement bien fait, témoignant de l'indéniable flair stylistique de son réalisateur, relate les circonstances d'une réunion amicale à la campagne entre quatre ex-membres du Front de Libération du Québec, en l'occurence Charles Gagnon, Pierre Vallières, Francis Simard et Robert Comeau. Malheureusement, le discours filmique regorge d'effets discursifs dénigrants, visant à discréditer le FLQ aux yeux du public non averti. Même les superbes chansons de Michel "Plume" Latraverse contiennent à l'occasion des vers proposant une interprétation des plus discutables du concept de Liberté.

Néanmoins, ce document regorge de qualités, ne serait-ce que celle consistant à bien mettre en valeur des aspects du discours politique de quatre immenses Patriotes québécois, quatre héros qui ont légué au Québec un héritage intellectuel inestimable --sans parler bien sûr de tous les autres membres du FLQ, qui ont TOUS pris les risques de la Liberté.
