Chief of Army Staff, General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani (COAS) visited Barikot and Kalam today. He was briefed about the return of displaced people. He appreciated the efforts of Security Forces to bring peace in the valley and in assisting the return of displaced people. COAS directed that the respect of law be maintained by all. COAS visited the Rehabilitation Facility Sabaoon (morning light) which has been established in Barikot for psychological treatment of the children, who were forcibly taken away by the terrorists. A team of specialist doctors both from the Army and civil is dedicated for this purpose. 32 children are presently undergoing the rehabilitation process. General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani also interacted with the notables of the area. He remained with them for some time and discussed issues related to their resettlement and rehabilitation. The locals assured their full support to the Army for maintaining peace and order in the valley. They reiterated that terrorists are not only the enemies of Islam and Pakistan but also of the people of Swat. COAS appreciated the locals for their timely and accurate tip-offs against the left-over terrorists in the Valley. COAS also visited the newly built community police training center. He appreciated the spirit and determination of local youth to fight against the terrorists. He interacted with the recruits and praised their high morale. COAS later pinned the gallantry awards on officers and men who displayed great acts of valour and bravery during operation Rah-e-Rast. Earlier, on arrival, COAS was received by Lieutenant General Muhammad Masood Aslam, Corps Commander.
