This simulation/animation took about 40 hours to create over the course of a few days. It started out as just a huge domino simulation but turned into a sort of Blender 'advertisement' somewhere along the way. I was very new to Blender when I made this, which is why the textures are boring and some of the camera movements are kind of odd. :)

Due to the massive amount of memory required to handle the physics for this many objects (800 including the plane), I was only able to simulate 2 to 3 seconds at a time. Not only that, but in order to keep the kinetic energy fluid I had to overlap every single 3 second simulation, then scale the 800 objects in the action editor to get the physics closer to real speed. The scaling process used 100% of my Macbook Pro's RAM and crashed Blender at least half the time. Also, getting the balls to bounce realistically and the large dominoes to fall properly took a lot of trial and error and tweaking of the physical properties. Of course I didn't realize any of this until after I had modeled everything, so it ended up being a nightmare to get the simulation to work, but I learned a lot so it was worth it.

  • Nice job.

  • Awesome stuff!

  • sweet!

  • Very, very cool!

  • Wow!

  • @Xano360: If you get blender it has its own Manual... also I'm learning right now using WikiBooks: "Blender 3d Noob to Pro"... like van01010100 said it takes a lot of patience... One tip from a noob is Take notes, I decided to have my own notebook for this. it is not an easy software as Anim8or but Blender has more potential and I think is worth the time you spend learning

  • Nice!

  • @the747videoer Depends if you create a Blender in Blender to Blend items like a Blender, Blenders are Awsome, Not those type of Blenders, the other Blender...

  • Dominoes are the second best toy ever. With blender as the first.

  • Legend- freaking -dary

That is a lot of work but seriously, it was worth it!
