Every day in Victoria an area of native forest the size of 27 football fields in logged, yet less than 8% of the state's old-growth forests remain since European Settlement. However we can protect our old-growth forests, create jobs and build a vibrant, export oriented wood products industry based on existing plantations.

  • Really agree with the need to conserve these forests- it's really a no brainer- but somehow we need to redefine how these forests value is defined within the economic system- As long as people's childrens school fee's depends upon chopping them all down then we'll continue to see ever increasing loses of forested area. Deforestation like climate change is a effect- not a cause- an effect rooted in current economic thinking- if we can gather all our forces under one roof we can alter economics
