In this video, I demonstrate a wiremod teleportation device I made. The setup I made allows me to input custom coords, set the hoverdrive jump target to the input coords, start a countdown timer from 10 seconds and an emergency stop/reset countdown w/o losing input coords if pressed. The song used is California Dreaming remix by Global Deejays Vs Benny Bennassi.

--EDIT Aug 24, 2009, 6:09 PM EDT--

Hello my friends.

Thanks, everyone, for interest in my video. A lot of people are asking for this video to be a tutorial. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to deny doing a tutorial for this. I have lost this file and no longer have g-mod installed. But I thank you once again for your interest.

However, I'll try to share as much information as i can remember about the logic behind this system.

Starting with The XYZ coord input system.
It was based off of a mathmatical system (adder) that when the button "Up" is pushed, it would allow for a number to increase as long as the button was held. The "Down" button was same concept, except it was designed to subtract, via an inverse input. Reset button was placed there for obvious reasons. It cleared the coord chip's number.

The screen's above the coord chips simply shows what number that chip was holding, respective for each X, Y, and Z coord.

The GPS location was simple, as the screens only presented current GPS coords.

The Hoverdrive input numbers were set to input w/e the "Coords" chips were holding via when the "Set" button was pressed.

Time-down system.
Further, i designed a time-down system that when you hit start, it activated a timer. Now timers always would count up - duh. I had a constant 10 there beside it, and as the timer counted up, it would subtract from this 10, which the screen would display. (Don't forget the rounder, so your timer isn't displaying a number like 1.1298432, as countdown timers for us don't have to be that precise)

Upon the timer exceeding 10 (remember, the subtraction-round chips caused the displayed number to count down, when in actuality the timer was still doing what it does naturally, counting up), i had a greater than chip tied to the constant 10 as a reset feature that would reset the timer, BUT ALSO simultaniously causing the drive to be given the "Jump" command.

The "Stop Countdown" button was tied to the timer's reset system, causing it to be reset. No "Jump Command" was given until the time-down system reached 0, which in actuality the timer still hit 10 and exceeded 10 because of the greater than 10 feature, giving a 1 constant back that caused the system to jump and reset the timer.

If I may offer a word of advice, don't let wiremod intimidate you. Do as I did: Spawn mathematical chips, constant numbers, rounders, timers, and experiment with them. This is all a mod of experimentation. Don't be discouraged, my friends, as I'm just a basement nerd and look at what I created. Lol. Think the logic through, think what the end goal is and go back from there, it's a process called Reverse-Succession, it's how you get to a goal by figuring out backwards how to get there. Break the logic down, remember what chips do, and you'll have a device 100 times better than my creation in no time.

I hope explaining the logic behind this process has helped, once again i apologize for not being able to do a tutorial for this.

Have a great day,
God Bless everyone.

  • can u tell me how to get g mod please?

  • Gmod 10 can be purchased for $10 through the Steam client which runs and keeps all Half Life, Source powered games, and applications up to date. It won't let you purchase it unless you have a game using the Source game engine, you need a Source game before you can buy it (like Half life 2, HL2 Episode 1 & 2, Portals, Team Fortress, etc.).

  • ill remember that. next time i go to san fransico ill wear some flowers in my hair. lol dumbass techno.

  • lol

  • If you want i can make a tutorial with it using expression? Very easy to make

  • Thats cool, fine with me if you'd like. That was my first attempt at building that machine, i'm still fairly new to wiremod myself - maybe 2 months experiance tops? lol. I have it saved in advanced duplicator also, so if you want me to shoot ya an email with my design, lemme know.
