Here Comes the Sun....
Thanks to an amazing group of individuals, the animals from the Hurricane Devastated St.Bernard Parish Animal Shelter are going to have a second chance at life.
On Sunday, March 30th, 2008, 44 orphaned dogs and 8 cats were moved out of the Devastated Region of Louisiana.
Some were survivors of Hurricane Katrina, others owner surrendered due to financial hardship, and strays found wandering the Parish.
They were transported to the Humane Society of Broward County in Fort Lauderdale Florida, and the SPCA Tampa Bay to begin a new life.
Working together with the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), and the Louisiana SPCA, this transport was an interagency effort funded by the Humane Society of the United States.
On behalf of the St. Bernard Parish Animal Shelter and The Friends of the Animal Shelter, Our heartfelt thanks to everyone that made this possible. These animals are true survivors.
Fondly,
Susan Bongiorno Transport & Out of State Adoption Coordinator St. Bernard Parish Animal Shelter

Thanks for this video. I was just at the shelter a week or so ago dropping off some donations. I saw how hard the employees there were working to make the animals as comfortable as they could be. It's about time progress is being made here in da parish. Thanks President Taffaro.
Thanks for posting this, Susan. What great news! Yea for all the organizations that helped and big props for new Parish President Craig Taffaro for helping with the move. With him on board, I'm sure the new shelter will finally be a priority.
