The girl isn't Mello. She's a main character, but not Mello. Mello, sadly, was never announced in the movie... : (

@FanaticQueenInGreen I can see how you can think it. But it's just weird to me. I think that since L's friendly with kids, namely his male heirs, I guess they wanted to show him caring about a little girl. I like to think she's no Mello, it makes their relationship in the movie look weirder (like in the anime Mello is obsessive at a L, and also speaks his name harshly at times-Maki wouldn't do that). I like to imagine that she became a detective or artist after L died. But that's just my mind.
