Brian Ryder wants everyone to paint in oils! In this DVD he shows you how to produce atmospheric oil landscapes that are both quick and easy to do.

This is a DVD for those who want to loosen up their oil painting or who are perhaps new to the medium and want to give it a go.

Brian shows in five full demonstrations how straightforward and rewarding oil painting can be.

Brian exhibited at the Royal institute of Oil Painters annual exhibition and teaches and demonstrates widely. He has also written a number of painting books.

  • how do you judge color with sunglasses

  • @tareekhnawees Brian says the lenses do not affect his colour perception

  • nice paintings but you are too protective of your technique you do not show enough process

  • @tareekhnawees Not at all. This is a short trailer for a two hour long DVD in which all is revealed.

  • What color have you used in the under painting? It appears to be a diluted raw sienna? So very beautiful, thanks so much !

  • @TheMaineMariner Brian's underpainting surface is a mix of cadmium red, white and burnt sienna

  • Brian...I love your paintings and I have have seen both your videos. Thank you for sharing what is in your head while you are painting! No one else I've seen do a video has been able to convey the inspiration and thought process behind depicting an abstract landscape....you're a terrific teacher....LD

  • I've heard from other plein air painters that using sunglasses can help with seeing values correctly without the distraction of too much color in the landscape.

  • @TheMaineMariner Brian's underpainting surface is a mis oc cadmium red, white and burnt sienna
