  • Very nice kit! However, I would definitely store any lead items (like weighted fishhooks or just the weights, or bullets) out of contact with things like toothpicks or your plastic bag (which might be used as a water container). Might not be enough lead exposure to make a serious difference, but if you're using this kit, you have enough problems without adding lead poisoning to 'em. =^[.]^=

  • Your'e right Raycheetah... Never thought of that. If I ever have to use this kit, a little lead in my diet would be the least of my worries though. I'll find a way to seal the lead off just in case.

  • I like it, but if is a "survival kit" for trekking, you need a button compass and a LED flashlight (but why the glove?), if an "EDC", why a fishing kit? (but a LED flashlight can be usefull).

    It's a good work, btw.

  • Going to get a compass, had planned on it. The smallest one I had wouldn't fit.

I'm a fireman, trained in basic life support, so I put the gloves in there... In case I come across that "Rolled over car in the ditch"... In the middle of the night. I keep a mouth to mouth shield in my pocket at tll times as well.

  • Great video!! I'll probably do two of these one fore my purse and one for the car. Question: what are the toothpicks for? that one has me baffled.

  • Cassandra -

1.Toothpicks can be use for the trigger mechanism on a "Deadfall" trap.

    2. Just that much dry wood can be the difference sometimes in getting a fire started or not.

    3. Ever try to get fire roasted squirrel out from between your teeth? LOL

  • @Carlstens Clear nail polish should work.

I'd agree that it would be the least of your worries thought. the amount of lead you'd ingest while using this kit would be infinitesimal, and the benefits of being able to go a day or two without having to 'make your own' or rely on others would be great.
